About Artistic Cosmetic Solutions

Artistic Cosmetic Solutions is the Northwest’s premiere clinic for Micropigmentation. All procedures are performed by Dr. Laura Reed, an Optometric Physician who specializes in Permanent Makeup and Medical Tattooing. She is the only cosmetic tattoo artist in Idaho who has two Board Certifications in Permanent Cosmetics. Dr. Reed has won “Best of the West” awards for permanent makeup artistry and is CDC-OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Certified. Highly experienced, she has performed nearly 5,000 procedures since 2006. Patients travel to her from all over Idaho (ex. Boise, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls, Sun Valley), other states (ex. CA, MN, NE, NV, OR, UT, WA) and other countries (ex. Canada, China, Germany, Iraq, Scotland).

Artistic Cosmetic Solutions Offers These Micropigmentation Services:

* CONSUMER ALERT *

The State of Idaho requires 2,000 hours of training for a cosmetology license. But it requires ZERO hours for tattooing that is invasive and permanent. Idaho has NO licensing board to regulate Permanent Cosmetics, Body Art, or Piercing. Anyone can do it anywhere without passing an exam, and there are no standards for training or continuing education. Even worse, Idaho has NO health department inspections of artists, equipment, or sterilization methods to ensure compliance with CDC-OSHA regulations. Therefore, the Red Cross can prevent Idahoans with tattooed makeup or body art from donating blood for up to 1 year even for a family member. Exceptions include tattooing done by a physician or under direct supervision of a physician. Dr. Reed has personally seen women who have been harmed by poorly trained or inexperienced tattooists in Idaho. Consumers are at risk for embarrassing permanent makeup, scarring, or obtaining an infectious disease like Hepatitis or MRSA. Unfortunately, no laws have been passed in Idaho so far to protect consumers.

Reasons to Choose Artistic Cosmetic Solutions for Your Cosmetic Tattoo Procedure:

Artistry… Dr. Laura Reed’s keen eye for shape, symmetry, and color stems from being an artist. She is formally trained in figure drawing, portrait drawing, color palettes, and color mixing. She is a Certified Makeup Artist and Master Eyebrow Designer with decades of experience in conventional makeup application. Her innate talents and advanced skills enable her to create beautiful permanent makeup that is subtle or dramatic. She strives to please her patients with the look they desire, but she will never tattoo anything that is unflattering or inappropriate.

Comfort… The atmosphere at Artistic Cosmetic Solutions is professional but not pretentious. The procedure room is CDC-OSHA compliant for sanitation and disinfection, yet it is relaxing with soothing music and soft blankets. Dr. Reed correctly uses the most effective topical anesthetics to minimize discomfort during a procedure, and her patients are so relaxed they often doze during the process. Many women who have had procedures done before by someone else tell her “What a difference--it was really painful before but not this time with you.”

Knowledge… A licensed Optometric Physician since 1985, Dr. Reed has extensive education in human anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. Her CPCP and FAAM credentials reflect the knowledge that would be required for a tattoo license. She is one of few artists certified by the two oldest and largest professional organizations: the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP), and the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM). Dr. Reed became a Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) by passing a timed, standardized, written exam with the highest score in the nation. She became a Board Certified Diplomat in Permanent Cosmetics by passing written, oral, and practical examinations and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Micropigmentation (FAAM).

Experience… in 2006, Dr. Reed opened her micropigmentation practice in Orange County, California. There she quickly sharpened her skills due to the area’s dense and diverse population. With nearly 5,000 procedures done to date, she has more hands-on experience than most others doing it years longer. Most tattooists offer permanent makeup as another service beside hair, nails, facials, massages, spray tans, or body art. Since Dr. Reed does not offer any of those services, her attention is focused 100% on permanent cosmetic procedures. She also has decades of patient care experience as an eye doctor.

Safety… Dr. Reed uses high-tech equipment and sterile safety needles that prevent cross-contamination (disease transmission) between patients. Although her office in Idaho is not inspected annually as it was in California (due to no laws), she still follows the same CDC-OSHA infection control standards to protect patients. Dr. Reed also uses hypoallergenic pigments from trusted manufacturers to reduce risk of allergic reactions. She gives correct after care products with detailed instructions for patient convenience and protection. Physicians and other health professionals refer their patients to Dr. Reed because they trust her background, credentials, and experience…and many become patients themselves!

Recognized Leader… Dr. Reed is an award winning artist and public safety advocate who educates consumers on health issues in permanent cosmetics. As an industry expert, she has been featured and quoted in newspapers, magazines, online blogs, and on local radio. Her articles have been published in magazines and the SPCP national newsletter. She has contributed to books currently in production and is listed as a Medical Tattoo Expert on the panel of Surviving Beautifully, a website devoted to aesthetics for cancer patients.
