Fees and Policies for Professional Services
Complimentary Consultations
A consultation for permanent makeup or medical tattooing is required before any procedure will be scheduled. (Exceptions can be made for out-of-town patients with special arrangements by telephone or email and fax.) All consultations are 20 minutes at no charge. A free consultation for permanent makeup does not include any makeup designing*. More than one person may attend a consultation at no additional charge. If you must reschedule a consultation, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice. (*Refer to Makeup Design Option information.)
What Permanent Makeup Fees Cover
Permanent makeup procedures include the following: Consultation; medical history review; analysis of face shape and features; custom makeup design; custom pigment color selection and blending; topical anesthetics before and during procedure; new, unused sterile needles; 100% disposable procedure supplies; digital computerized tattoo equipment; allergy patch test (if desired); before and after photos; and complete aftercare kit.
Pricing Structure for Permanent Makeup
New permanent makeup is almost always a two-step process. Many other permanent makeup artists charge up-front for the two visits (applications). And they usually allow a 30 to 45 day deadline for the second visit to be completed. Often they will charge an additional fee if the client returns after the 30 to 45 day deadline. However, our fee structure is different: We charge only when the services are actually performed. The initial procedure cost is higher because the first visit takes the most time and amount of work. The second visit (if it is needed) is a lower fee and charged only when that procedure is performed. Also, the time limit to complete the second visit is longer (90 days) to allow enough time for healing and color stabilization. We believe this pricing structure is more fair and affordable for patients.

Optional Makeup Design Appointment
On your permanent makeup procedure day, Dr. Reed will analyze your face and features and determine the best custom makeup design with your approval. A 20 minute free consultation does not allow enough time to answer questions, show her portfolio, and design makeup properly. So if you want to “test drive” a design before the tattooing process, the Optional Design Appointment is your “safety net”. This appointment is scheduled after your free consultation but before and separate from the tattooing appointment. It includes a face and feature analysis with custom penciling of eyebrows, eyeliner, or lips for $85. If your tattooing is performed within 30 days of this appointment, $35 will be applied toward (deducted from) your procedure fee.
Recoloring Faded Permanent Makeup (Other Technician’s Work)
Fees are provided at the consultation on a per case basis. The minimum fee is the price at that time for an initial procedure (first application). An additional fee may be added for extensive shape and symmetry correction. If removal of old permanent makeup is needed, removal fees will apply.
Permanent Makeup Correction and Tattoo Lightening or Removal
Fees are provided at the consultation on a per case basis. Multiple sessions are usually necessary for removal results.
Scar Camouflage (Skin Recoloring Camouflage)
Fees are provided at the consultation on a per case basis. A spot color test for best color matching is required for areas larger than ½ inch. The spot test is a separate appointment and fee. Tattooing procedure sessions are charged at an hourly rate with a half hour minimum. Multiple visits (tattooing sessions) are usually necessary to achieve the best scar camouflage results.
Breast Areola Creation or Repigmentation
Fees are provided at the consultation on a per case basis. Areola creation (post-mastectomy) is charged per areola for initial and follow-up visits. A spot color test for best color matching is required for scar camouflage (augmentation or reduction) or unilateral areola creation. The spot test is a separate appointment and fee. Tattooing sessions for scar repigmentation are charged at an hourly rate with a half hour minimum. Multiple visits (tattooing sessions) are usually necessary to achieve the best scar camouflage or areola matching results.
Skin Needling (Wrinkle and Scar Reduction)
Fees are provided at the consultation. Skin needling sessions for wrinkles or acne scars are charged at an hourly rate with a half hour minimum. Multiple visits are usually necessary to achieve the desired results.
Accepted Payment Methods
Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit card. All major credit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). There is a $35 handling fee for all returned checks. Gift certificates are also available.
Refund Policy
The results of any cosmetic procedure, including but not limited to permanent cosmetics, cannot be guaranteed. As such, whether or not a patient is satisfied with the outcome, there will be no refunds.
Booking Appointments
A credit card number is required to schedule and hold any procedure appointment. It will only be run if the appointment is rescheduled or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.* If you do not have a credit card, the appointment can be held with a deposit paid by cash or check. The deposit will be deducted from the procedure fee on the day of the appointment. If the appointment is rescheduled or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the deposit will be forfeited (not refunded).* [*Please refer to the conditions below.]
Cancellations or Reschedules
At least 48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule any procedure appointment; otherwise a $100 fee will be assessed. If the appointment was reserved with a credit card, the card will be run for $100 if 48 hours notice is not given. If a deposit was paid, it will be forfeited (not refunded) if 48 hours notice was not given.
Late Arrivals or “No-Shows”
Anyone who does not appear for their appointment is a “no-show” and will be charged the $100 fee on their credit card or will forfeit their $100 deposit. Anyone who is more than 45 minutes late for their appointment will be rescheduled. That much lost time will not allow the procedure to be completed correctly—the lost time cannot be “made up” by rushing or omitting important steps. Because of the short rescheduling notice, the credit card will be run for $100 or the paid deposit of $100 will be forfeited.
Visitors and Children
CDC-OSHA guidelines will not allow observers (spouses, family, or friends) in the procedure room during the tattooing process. However, they may participate in the preparation steps (designing and color selection). Drivers, family, etc. can wait in the reception area if desired. California law prohibits the tattooing of persons under age 18; therefore, children will not be allowed in the procedure room. The reception area is not equipped for day care, so child care arrangements should be made prior to any appointment.
